Onboard Monitoring

Recent improvements in vehicle computers and sensors let modern vehicle onboard diagnostic systems locate and identify failures that may result in increased harmful vehicle emissions.

The second — and most current generation of onboard monitoring systems — OBD II, is standard on all 1996 and newer passenger cars and light trucks sold in the U.S.

Remember, OBD II is designed to monitor the vehicle for problems that might cause an increase in harmful emissions.
