Monitor Types

Here are monitors found in all OBD II vehicles.

• Comprehensive Component Monitor (tests for electrical operation of various sensors and actuators).

• Misfire Monitor (tests for engine misfire conditions that can increase exhaust emissions or even damage the catalyst).

• Fuel System Monitor (tests for improper fuel control).

• Catalyst Monitor (tests catalytic converter efficiency).

• Oxygen Sensor Monitor (tests oxygen sensors for range and performance).

• Oxygen Sensor Heater Monitor (tests the oxygen sensor heaters to see if they are working).
