Monitor Types

In addition to the monitors shown in the previous slide, the monitors shown here may also be used, depending on vehicle make, model, year and equipment:

• EGR - Exhaust Gas Recirculation Monitor - (tests EGR operation and exhaust gas flow rates)

• EVAP - Evaporative Emissions System Monitor - (tests for fuel canister vapor purge and may also leak-test the fuel containment system to check for fuel vapor leaks to the atmosphere)

• Secondary AIR - Air Injection Monitor - (tests air injection systems used to oxidize unburned fuel in the exhaust)

• Air Conditioning System Monitor - (tests R-12 systems only)

• Heated Catalyst Monitor - (tests electrically heated catalytic converters)
