MIL Tests

Even if the vehicle passes the bulb test Key On Engine Off (KOEO), there may be cases where the MIL won’t work properly with the engine running.

The NYVIP software will ask the vehicle computer if it has commanded the MIL ON. If the NYVIP software determines that the MIL should be on, but it is off, the vehicle fails the emissions part of test.

Regardless of the reason, a MIL circuit malfunction must be corrected before a vehicle can pass the NYVIP inspection.
