Diagnostic Link Connector

A scan tool can be connected to the standardized diagnostic connector used in all OBD II vehicles. It’s known as the Diagnostic Link Connector (DLC).

All OBD II vehicles have this connector, and the shape of the DLC is the same in all vehicles.

The DLC has cavities for a maximum of 16 terminals. The vehicle manufacturer may use some or all of the 16 cavities in the DLC connector. Many vehicles have empty DLC cavities. This is normal.
