Connecting the Scan Tool

The NYVIP scan tool is equipped with a special cable that has a cable end designed to match the shape and pin locations of the DLC. With the ignition switched OFF, plug the scan tool cable connector squarely into the DLC. Make sure the cable end is correctly aligned with the DLC as you plug it in.

Caution: Never connect or disconnect the scan tool until you have turned the ignition switch OFF.

If the connector doesn’t plug into the DLC easily on the first try, check your alignment. Check for bent or damaged DLC terminals.

If damage is discovered at the DLC that prevents a scan tool connection, refer the vehicle to a qualified technician for repairs. If the DLC is damaged or missing, the vehicle fails the inspection.
