Install a Floppy Disk

Make sure the 3.5 inch floppy disk included in the equipment package is inserted into the floppy drive.

The floppy disk must remain in the floppy drive at all times. It should never be removed or discarded. Once testing begins, the floppy acts as a data backup for any files that have not yet been transmitted over the phone lines to the VID (Vehicle Information Database).

Note: The Vehicle Information Database is the main computer at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) where all test data are stored. Test results from each station are transmitted by the modem to the VID.
