SGS Testcom Inc. is a New York State Company.
We provide a range of services to entities in government and the
private sector associated with implementation and management of
motor vehicle inspection programs involving on-board diagnostic
systems, exhaust emissions and mechanical and safety-related components.
Our customer list includes the New York State Departments of Motor
Vehicles (DMV) and Environmental Conservation, the Virginia Department
of Environmental Quality, the Massachusetts Department of Environmental
Protection and the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Regulation,
plus the National Car Testing Service of Ireland.
For the New York State DMV, SGS Testcom designed,
developed and operates an Information Management System that supports
the annual safety and emissions inspection program in the 9-county
New York Metropolitan Area. The system connects 4,000 licensed inspection
stations on demand to the DMV mainframe for real-time bi-directional
exchange of motor vehicle registration and inspection information.
Over the life of the initial 7-year contract, the SGS Testcom IMS
processes 100 million transactions (calls). On a busy day, the
IMS handles 90,000 transactions (calls) involving more than
20,000 inspections and the transfer of calibration, quality assurance
and audit files.
