NYVIP Emission Repair Selections

NYVIP MESSAGE No. 23

01/22/2008

TO: All INSPECTION STATIONS

FROM: NYS DEPT. OF MOTOR VEHICLES

SUBJECT: NYVIP Emission Repair Selections

DMV Automotive Facility Inspectors (AFIs) have found that some Certified Inspectors are entering repair information incorrectly into the NYVIP Inspection Analyzer because they are unable to find the correct repair item in the list that the analyzer presents. It is very important to enter emissions repairs accurately, especially when issuing an emissions waiver.

To help you enter emission related repairs easily and more accurately, we have prepared the attached list of the Emission Systems that are in the NYVIP Inspection Analyzer and their associated components. Before you choose the “Other Repair” option, please check the list to be sure the repair you are entering is not listed.

We suggest that you print this message by pressing “P” on the keyboard and keep the list near the Inspection Analyzer for future reference when entering repairs.

As always, if you have any questions you may contact the Office of Clean Air at 518-473-0597.
