NYVIP Message No. 27

DATE: 04/17/2008

TO: NYTEST STATIONS USING SNAP-ON/SUN OR JOHN BEAN EQUIPMENT

FROM: NYS DEPT. OF MOTOR VEHICLES

SUBJECT: SOFTWARE UPDATE

This message is a reminder to inspection stations that currently have Snap-on/SUN or John Bean NYTEST inspection equipment, and who have not updated the software yet. A message was sent on 3/18/2008 advising you to update the software by 4/3/08. Our records indicate that you have not installed the software update yet.

This is a required update and must be installed immediately. Failure to install the update will result in all inspections at your facility being stopped, including NYVIP inspections.

Once the new software update has been activated a full calibration process will be required before any inspections can be performed.

Instructions regarding the update are below. If the NYTEST unit is not working, you must have it serviced and the software updated.

Once you complete the software update and calibration if you will not be completing an inspection immediately you must notify DMV by faxing a copy of the Analyzer Status Report to 518-474-0844 that the update has been completed. If you have questions, you may call the Clean Air Office at 518-473-0597.

The inspection machines automatically check for updates on a regular basis during the start-up process. The next time that the inspection machine checks for an update, you should allow it to complete. If an update is available, please proceed to step 5 below.
