VS Swan St. Counter

 NYVIP Message No. 53 (2010)

DATE: June 4, 2010

TO: REGISTERED FACILITIES

FROM: NYS DMV, DIVISION OF VEHICLE SAFETY

SUBJECT: CLOSING OF VEHICLE SAFETY SWAN STREET COUNTER

On or about June 14, 2010, DMV will be implementing changes to secure the Swan Street Building (DMV central office).  Public entry to the Swan Street Building will be restricted to the Customer Service Counter in Core 3.  Because of these changes, Vehicle Safety will be closing our public counter in Core 1 and ending staffed counter service at the close of business on Friday, June 11, 2010.

To accommodate our customers who have become accustomed to dropping items off in person, staff at the Customer Service Counter in Core 3 will accept items to be left for Vehicle Safety in a secure drop box.  You may drop off inspection sticker orders, MV50 orders, facility applications, consumer complaints, etc. at the Customer Service Counter.  The Customer Service Counter entrance is located under the portico at the north end of the building (toward the Capitol).  There will be signs directing visitors to the correct entrance.

Vehicle Safety will retrieve items from the drop box daily.  Please see one of the Customer Service Representatives to drop off an item.  We will continue to offer services via email, mail, telephone, and our website.  If you have questions about this change, please call 518-474-5798 for further information.

Thank you.
