DMV Message to Stations   Return to message list

SGS Testcom has mailed a software update CD with installation
instructions to all upstate NYVIP inspection stations. This CD update
should have been installed on your unit. The software update CD is easy to
load by following the instructions that were provided, and takes less than
five minutes to load. If you have not received the update CD, instructions
to load the software or require assistance, please contact the Help Desk at
866-469-8477. Our records indicate this update has not been performed by
your facility.

Consistent with your station participation agreement (see section 6)
and software capability, effective 4/18/05, your ability to perform
inspections will be stopped if you have not updated. Stations that are
still using version 3.06 (or even 3.03) will, when they attempt to perform
an inspection on or after 4/18, receive a message on the screen "VID not
responding, Network Error". This will lock you out of the NYVIP analyzer and
stop your ability to inspect vehicles until the software has been updated.
If you received the update and have not loaded it into your NYVIP analyzer,
do so right away.

In order to resume inspections after being stopped, stations need
only install the update CD according to the instructions mailed with the CD.
Once updated, the station would need to perform a "data refresh" (from the
Main Menu, select (1) Vehicle Inspection Menu and then select (3), Data
Refresh). This will initiate a call to SGS Testcom. The software update
will be confirmed and the suspension will be lifted.

These are messages sent by NYS DMV to the inspection stations via the emissions analyzer units. They frequently contain important information, usage tips, or announcements of system changes.
