Christine Hughes letter to Gov.
ATTENTION!
2007 INSPECTION STICKER DESIGN
CHANGE
The
design for some of the 2007 inspection stickers has been changed.
These stickers are being shipped now. In addition to this message,
these instructions are being sent with the stickers, with pictures
that will help explain the changes.
Changes
have been made to three window stickers (Safety/Diesel Emissions,
Safety/Emissions, and Safety) in order to get easily peelable
stickers and allow more detailed information to be recorded on the
sticker.
Three
date boxes have been added to the top of these stickers, dividing the
month into three periods: 1-10, 11-20 and 21-31. On the date the
vehicle passes inspection, the certified inspector will hole-punch
the date box corresponding with the day the inspection is being done,
and the month box corresponding with the month in which the
inspection sticker will expire. For example, if you are inspecting a
vehicle on August 18, you will hole-punch the second date box, 11-20,
and the month box for August (AUG). The date boxes were added to
benefit both the inspection station and the motorist. Staggering
inspection dates throughout the month prevents the heavy volume of
inspections that exists now at the end of the month.
On
the Safety sticker there is an additional box (T) for a trailer
inspection, next to the date boxes. When you inspect a trailer,
hole-punch this box in addition to the date box and the month box.
AN INSPECTOR WILL NO LONGER PUNCH FOUR HOLES THROUGH “NEW
YORK STATE” TO INDICATE A TRAILER INSPECTION.
The
Safety/Emissions and Safety/Diesel Emissions stickers also have a new
box on the reverse side of the sticker to be check-marked if an
emissions waiver is issued. DO NOT PUNCH A HOLE IN THIS BOX.
The
Motorcycle, Heavy Vehicle and High Enhanced pinfeed stickers have not
been changed.
In
addition to the added boxes, the three window stickers also have a
small peel tab at the bottom, which will make it easier to peel off
the clear cover. The height of the peeled stickers will be about
2-3/8" instead of 2-1/2".
Law
enforcement is also being notified of these new designs.
