NYVIP MESSAGE No

NYVIP MESSAGE No.4 (2006)

2/15/2006

TO: All INSPECTION STATIONS

FROM: NYS DEPT. OF MOTOR VEHICLES

SUBJECT: INSPECTION STICKER EXPIRATION

DMV is aware that there may be some confusion regarding punching expiration dates on the new style window stickers. Please be aware there is no change in policy.

A NYVIP system message was sent on 12/9/05 explaining how to properly punch these stickers, and another message was sent on 1/10/06 explaining that the expiration date printed on the inspection receipt may not match the sticker, and asking inspectors to change the date on the receipt. Please read these messages again if you are not clear on how to properly punch the stickers to indicate the expiration date.

DMV is amending the inspection regulations to include this sticker change, and the next version of NYVIP software will include the change to the receipt date. In the mean time, please follow the instructions in the prior two messages.

In the event your customers have concerns about the sticker, please advise them that enforcement of the new dates is not scheduled to begin until 2007.

These are messages sent by NYS DMV to the inspection stations via the emissions analyzer units. They frequently contain important information, usage tips, or announcements of system changes.
