The CD can also be viewed on any PC with CD playback capabilities. There is no cost to the inspector or the stations to take this computer based training. An inspector should review the material prior to taking the mandatory certification exam.
OBDII Certification Exam
All inspectors must pass a mandatory OBDII certification exam prior to inspecting OBDII vehicles in the NYVIP. The exam is only accessible through the NYVIP system in each station. The inspector must take the 25-question exam and pass with a score of 80%.
Inspectors that successfully pass the exam will be authorized to begin conducting official OBDII inspections.
