A.T.T.S. Training
Automotive technology has changed greatly over the years and the
information a technician needs to repair today’s vehicles
grows accordingly. “Better trained technicians are able to
repair OBD II problems faster and more efficiently, thereby increasing
the ability of the shop to make money on these repairs.”
In order to provide up-to-date, real-world training, SGS
Testcom Inc. has teamed with Automotive Technician
Training Services (A.T.T.S.) to deliver training programs
related to OBD II. The following classes are provided to assist
your shop in diagnosing and repairing problem vehicles that you
encounter in the New York Vehicle Inspection Program
(NYVIP.)
1. Getting to Know OBD II (8
hours, Cost: $260.00)
This class is essential for understanding today’s OBD II
vehicles. Covers:
- OBD II and the effect on emissions
- CEL, SES, MIL, DTCs, PIDS, and other abbreviations!
- Freeze Frame, an array of tests, code history, reprogramming,
and etc.
2. OBD II Diagnostic Strategies (8
hours, Cost: $300.00)
This class concentrates on systems based repairs using common test
equipment. Covers:
- OBD II emissions and other tests, fuel systems, scan tool diagnostics,
testers
- Techniques centered on common problems and systems
3. OBD II Monitors (4 hours,
Cost: $150.00)
This class concentrates on diagnosing and repairing DTCs and MIL
faults. Covers:
- Conditions needed to pass the scan tool emissions test
- Emphasis on MIL diagnosis, subtleties of monitor operation,
monitor disablers, erasing DTCs, and relationship between drive
cycles and monitors
4. Mode 6 (8 hours, Cost: $300.00)
This class provides an overview of effective Mode 6 interpretation.
Covers:
- What you can do about the lack of a user-friendly Mode 6 scan
tool interface, test data, and its ambiguities in different vehicles
- How to avoid over diagnosing vehicles by using incomplete Mode
6 test data
5. Getting to Know Automotive Computers (8
hours, Cost $300.00)
This class overviews the vehicle’s computer system operation.
Covers:
- Computer relationships, component descriptions, scan tool troubleshooting
tips
- Updates on newer advanced technologies such as CAN
- Vehicle networking strategies, data protocols, and Mode 6 PID
values + sample screens
6. Expert EVAP (8 hours, Cost:
$300.00)
This class overviews the EVAP systems components, functions, and
repairs. Covers:
- Connecting meters, scopes, EVAP smoke machines, gas analyzer,
and amp clamps.
- Going through basic to advanced EVAP to diagnose and repair
MILs and DTCs
